When traveling, I make sure I go to a restaurant that will give me a “unique dining experience” to be cherished for a lifetime. Nowadays, finding a great food spot in the area is just one click, and for that, I rely on travel apps Google Maps and Trip Advisor reviews.
Tarsier Paprika Restaurant
Our recent Bohol food adventure includes Tarsier Paprika Restaurant, a cliffside restaurant with a panoramic view of the Bohol sea. The restaurant is inside a luxury villa resort in Tawala Panglao for the hotel’s guests but is also available for non-hotel guest customers. The restaurant serves quality Filipino and European cuisine in a more sophisticated manner.
Tarsier Paprika Restaurant offers indoor and outdoor dining seating arrangements with a great view of the Bohol Sea. The place is so relaxing, with very few restaurant guests. And, since its location is in a secluded area, getting there requires us to hire a round-trip tricycle service from our hotel in Tawala, which costs P 300.
The Outdoor Dining Section
The outdoor section has an expansive lush garden with 360-degree views of the Bohol Sea. It has a calming and romantic atmosphere that you would want to stay longer.
We roam around the place while waiting for our order, and found out how charming the restaurant was, being surrounded by nature. The cool, breezy, and fresh air and the quietness of the place made me feel like I am transported to another world.
The Indoor Dining Section
The indoor section of the restaurant is simply elegant. It has a glass wall from floor to ceiling which overlooks the sea and the surrounding garden. You may opt to be seated in a private dining area if you want a more intimate dining experience. The restaurant’s interior and exterior incorporated local materials such as sea shells to provide an island vibe.
How about the food? well, we all have different taste buds, but I must say that all the food we ordered was more than satisfying and enjoyable. They used fresh and finest ingredients and served in a beautiful and appetizing presentation using high-quality dishware.
The food we have ordered:
ASIAN 9 TREASURES SALAD – This hearty salad is very refreshing and consists of grilled chicken, caramelized walnuts, fresh mango, and water chestnut, mixed with Asian dressing. A variety of tastes and textures is all I experienced, sweet, salty, and tangy.
Bread Basket & Dips – The freshly baked French bread has a perfectly crisp crust yet is soft on the inside. It goes very well with the dip.
FRITO MISTO– Consists of a variety of crispy fried kinds of seafood like fish, squid, and prawns with French fries, and tartar sauce on the side.
SEAFOOD BISQUE – This creamy soup consists of succulent fish, squid, and shrimp. Other ingredients are black olives, cream, a dash of cognac, and white truffle oil.
I always make room for dessert, so I ordered Truffle Chocolate Cake, Hot coffee, and a Hot chocolate drink, and It did not disappoint. The chocolate truffle cake is super rich and creamy, perfect with a cup of coffee. This recipe is a must-try in this restaurant.
We met Chef Ron, one of the chefs in the restaurant and the one who prepared our food. He was welcoming and friendly, personally appreciating us for visiting the place.
Although the place is hidden and has a bumpy road, it is still worth visiting, considering its excellent food quality, architectural design, and exceptional ambiance.
