BOHOL TRAVEL GUIDE

Bohol Travel Guide: Countryside Tour Detailed Itinerary and Budget

Without a doubt, Bohol is one of the top tourist destinations in the Philippines due to its unique charm, laid-back atmosphere, natural wonders, and historical sites. In addition, the pristine beaches in this province are a great spot for swimming and snorkeling. There are plenty of things to do on this Island, and planning what type of adventure to take and which places to visit can be overwhelming. In this regard, you should plan and make priorities as to what to put on your itinerary.

Nowadays, there are many local tour agencies offer countryside trips and island-hopping adventure packages suitable to your preferences and budget. I contracted the Incredible Bohol Eco-Tour agency for our countryside tour during our trip to Bohol last December 2022.

The Chocolate Hills Adventure

The Chocolate Hills are the main tourist attraction of the Bohol province. A natural wonder that is famous due to its cone-shaped hills that turned brown during the dry season hence was called Chocolate Hills. During the wet season, the whole area is lush green.

Our tour coordinator/driver fetched us to the hotel, where we stayed at precisely 8 AM. He suggested that we begin the tour from the farthest, so we start with the Chocolate Hills in Carmen Bohol as it is more time-efficient and convenient since fewer tourists are at the site before noon.

The Shiphaus

The Shiphaus is a ship-like structure hotel that accepts guests for an overnight stay and is a venue for various occasions. They permit a day tour with an entrance fee of P 50 for each person. It is one of the unique attractions in Bohol as it provides visitors with a maritime experience. I recommend this place to those who fear cruising but want to see what it is like to be inside a cruise ship.

The Shiphaus

This tourist attraction is not on our itinerary, but I found it fascinating as we passed by the highway. Just for fun, we put on the sailor’s uniform and snapped some photos. Souvenir items are available inside the hotel, such as key chains, ref magnets, photo frames with your picture, etc. A complimentary drink is available at the cafe located on the roof deck.

Room rates are as follows: Fan room, double deck: Php 1500 Aircon: Php 2000 Captain’s Cabin: Php 3000

Estimated tour duration: 30 minutes

Address: Poblacion Norte, Batuan Bohol

Bohol Tarsier Conservation Area

One of the popular attractions in Bohol is the Loboc Tarsier Conservation Area. This place gives tourists a close-up view of the Tarsiers, the world’s second smallest primate, about the size of a palm. The forested sanctuary provides the tarsiers with a natural habitat to make them stay.

Since the Tarsiers are nocturnal, they are just sleeping all day, and very rare to see them with wide-open eyes. Their big eyes are light-sensitive, which is why they disallow flash photography. They smash their head on the branches of trees or go on a hunger strike when they are stressed. There are “Silence Please” signs and notices posted all around the park to prevent them from getting disturbed and upset.

And since they are small, they are hard to spot. Good thing there were tour attendants who guided visitors to the tarsiers’ location and assisted visitors in capturing great photos with these tiny creatures.

Entrance Fee: P 100 per head

Estimated tour duration: 30 minutes

Bilar Man-Made Forest

The Bilar Man-Made forest is a favorite stop for a photo op as the place looks like a green tunnel because of the tall trees that bend toward each other. I felt the coldness of the air when we entered this road, and the gentle swishing sound of the leaves was very relaxing.

Both local and foreign visitors love to take pictures in the middle of the road to get a perfect backdrop of the rainforest. However, vehicles passing by this road are at full speed, so take extra caution when taking your photo shoot here. The place is very Instagrammable but better safe than sorry.

Estimated time spent: 20 minutes

Loboc River Floating Restaurant:

Lunch Buffet at the Loboc River Floating Restaurant

Another Unique attraction in Bohol is having lunch while cruising the Loboc River. The Rio Verde River Cruise is the operator of the floating restaurant that offers Filipino cuisine, including local delicacies. There’s a live music that serenades the guests during the cruise.

You may skip this activity if you prefer to eat lunch in another restaurant. Your driver/tour coordinator can recommend a restaurant in town that depends on your preferences. Still, if you are a first-timer in Bohol, I recommend this.

  • Regular rate: P 850 per head
  • Senior Citizens and Persons with Disability: P600 but must present an ID
  • Kids 3 feet to 4 feet: P 365 per child
  • Kids below 3 fees: Free of charge

Estimated time of cruising: 45 minutes to 1 hour

Lemur & Butterfly Park

It is a guided tour inside an open flower garden with many butterflies flying within the area. Aside from the butterfly, we also encounter phytons, a bald eagle, a crocodile, and a lemur. The place is small, and there are only a few animals inside, but it is still worth a visit. The visitors can touch and have a photo of the large-scale butterfly in the area. The staff was pleasant and very entertaining too.

Entrance Fee: P100 per head

Estimated Allotted time: 20 to 30 minutes

Baclayon Church

The Church of Immaculate Concepcion in Baclayon is considered one of the oldest churches in the Philippines. It is considered a Natural Cultural treasure because of its rich history and significance to the province of Bohol. We were not able to go inside the church because it was past 5 PM and the church was already closed.

Estimated time spent: 15 minutes

Sikatuna’s Mirror of the World

Sikatuna Mirror of the World is a theme park and a botanical garden located in Libjo, Sikatuna, Bahol, Philippines. The place exhibits some of the iconic landmarks in the world in a scaled-down version in one place. It also features a beautifully landscaped garden with various sculptures and figurines, a Japanese Koi Pond, and a cafe with a panoramic view of the whole park.

Sikatuna Mirror of the World

Entrance Fee: Adult: P 150 per head, Senior Citizens & PWD: P 120per head, Child (below 3ft): P 50 per head

Environmental Fee: P 20 per head

Estimated tour duration: 1 hour and 30 minutes

Bohol Bee Farm

It was almost 6 PM and already dark when we reached the Bohol Bee Farm. We missed seeing the beautiful surroundings and the relaxing view of the ocean, but we enjoyed the creaminess of the organic ice cream at the dessert shop. We bought some pasalubong items like raw honey, tapioca chips, and jams.

Bohol Bee Farm

Their ice cream uses natural ingredients like coconut milk and honey. They offer unique ice cream flavors such as peanut kisses, salted honey, and charcoal. There are also plant-based ice creams like malunggay, spicy ginger, dragon fruit, ube, langka, guyabano, tsokolate, mango, melon, durian, pandan, and avocado.
